Wild Rose
Thorns,
first prick,
nipping me.
As my finger,
trails along roughness.
Emerald toughness hides,
sweet sap coursing through the stem.
A single solitary bloom,
awakens a stirring emotion.
Memories sweep accross my timeless mind.
Candy apple red petals carefully,
draped along a glossy wooden floor.
Anniversary, shared delight.
Stealing kisses through the night.
Memories lost in sight.
As like a petal,
you fade away,
Slowly and
gently,
forever.

ah, roses are so strong & beautiful.
the use of a slow death of the rose was wonderful.
Thank you so much. I wanted to write about the Rose but it turned out differently than I thought it would be.
it got rather warm but the end dipped cold…slipping away forever…unless its slipping deeper into love but…great imagery in that rose…smiles.
Beautiful poem… love the visuals and the form
this is quite beautiful, but also quite quite sad…
As someone who thinks she’s pulled off an incredible feat if she manages a haiku, I have to tell you I was blown away that you could write so beautifully while conforming to what looks like such a difficult form. Your poem, like the rose, was very worth the challenge.
I agree with Pattie
Corbie it’s so fun to watch you have fun and try your hand at different forms
The form really pulls the reader in so it was a great choice.
That wild rose will get ya every time
Loved the poem, the imagry, the memories, all with beautiful language..and that incredible fade-out. Lovely. Thank u for sharing.
this was an excellent write…and damn too clever for me….serioulsy though really enjoyed its flow, word usage….this really was good
Romantic and lovely
A nice etheree, your use of color evokes a lovely imagery through the piece. I think there may be one or two lines that are a syllable off yet it matters not really. Wonderful write ~ Rose
Just came back to say this dear friend – you see a world that is right in front of our eyes. You not only perceive beauty but give it meaning and a voice
